WHAT'S GIVING ME LIFE/DRAINING ME DRY THIS MONTH:
6th may, 2026
I’ve just said goodbye to my friend Iris Beaglehole, who flew over to visit me for a few days. We’ve been working on a project we’ve been wanting to do for a long time, a cozy fantasy romance.
We got a lot more done than I expected, probably because we’re so excited about this book, and we’re weirdly, almost supernaturally aligned with everything to do with it – the characters, the romance, the plot, the vibes.
I’ve never done a co-write before and I was a little nervous, but it’s been as easy as falling off a log. If anything, I’m just a little annoyed that Iris and I worked so hard we didn’t get up to any shenanigans while she was here.
It will be a while before we can get this book out into the world, but rest assured I’ve got lots in the pipeline.
First of all, the next instalment in Marie’s adventures is dropping on May 30. We’ve got some big BIG reveals in this one.
You can pre-order Love Bites here.
Apologies to my neighbors…
Because I bought a karaoke machine! I’m not a great singer, but karaoke is so much fun, and I love belting out a song or two with friends after a few cocktails. Our local bars have karaoke nights, but for some strange reason, my town seems to have an excess of retired professional singers with perfect voices. I love a good sing-along but I don’t fancy being humiliated. Now I can have a little crooning session in the comfort of my own home.
The Great Sock Wars
So far so good! The false bottom on my drawer seems to be working; my secret stash of supersoft socks has remained untouched.
Good Reads
I’ve finally got a little free time on my hands so I’m diving into Ilona Andrews’ latest release, This Kingdom Will Not Kill me. I’m BDH and proud, and I’m trying not to read too fast so I can savor it.
Okay, read on for some book news!
I wouldn’t call myself a control freak. I’m more of a control enthusiast. A control aficionado, if you will. I am quite dedicated to maintaining control over my environment, and I’m not going to apologize for that.
I have a life plan, and nothing will push me off the path to greatness. I’m going to get my PhD, get full custody of my baby brother, build a version of an Iron Man suit, and make the world a better place.
And sure, in the past couple of months, I’ve been teetering on the edge of losing control of myself. I’ve got a grip now, I promise. My hunger is taken care of, my heightened vampire senses are reined in, my murderous urges are under control. But, as God as my witness, I will have control over my environment.
But there’s one thing I’ve never really been able to get full control over, and that thing has just appeared out of nowhere, ready to mess up everything.
My mother.
Love Bites is book Four in the Eternity College Chronicles, a fun new supernatural comedy and urban fantasy series that’s a little bit Buffy The Vampire Slayer, a little bit Wednesday, and a whole lot of Big Bang Theory.
NOW AVAILABLE!
In other book news, Marie’s series is coming to audio! Carrie Coello is narrating this series, and if you’ve listened to any of my audiobooks, then you’ll recognize her from Daphne’s series. She’s narrated over 120 titles on Audible!

The gods, witches and politicians all enjoy the daily tug-of-war for control. In a world of constant scheming and manoeuvring, their peaceful world of ruining each other’s day was truly disrupted. What if it was all just a distraction keeping everyone busy until They came back home again?
At the urging of her beloved grandmother, Cassie takes an apparently safe and humdrum job in a government office in Glasgow. However, it turns out the conspiracy theorists are right, and there’s more to the civil service than box-ticking and inscrutable acronyms. When Cassie is drawn into a plot involving alien invaders, unscrupulous billionaires and the highest levels of government, she also discovers that living in her home city are a group of semi-retired gods, witches and supernatural beings, hidden in plain sight. As Cassie’s true power becomes apparent – she can get people to do what she wants merely by suggesting it to them – she becomes a vital ally against the forces that want to rid the world of gods and humans alike.
They have only 10 days to save the human race and themselves.
